Death

Whatever religion or way of life we follow, we all agree that death will come to us sooner or later.

DeathThe Prophet (peace be upon him) came to see Abu Salamah when his sight had become fixed (he had passed away).

So the Prophet (peace be upon him) closed his eyes and said,

"When the soul is seized and it leaves the body, the eyes follow it."

Some of Abu Salamah's family wept and wailed, whereupon the Prophet (peace be upon him) said,

"Pray to Allah only for good for yourselves, because the angels (who are present) say 'ameen' to whatever you utter."

Then he said, "O Allah! Forgive Abu Salamah; raise his station among those who are rightly-guided; and take good care of his family that he has left behind. O Lord of the Worlds! Forgive him and us, make his grave spacious, and put light therein for him." (Umm Salamah)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said,

"The righteous works that continue to benefit a believer after his death include the knowledge that he taught and spread among others, a righteous son (children) whom he leaves behind,

or a copy of the Qur'an that he bequeaths to his inheritors, or a mosque that he builds, or a rest house that he builds for the wayfarers, or a canal of water that he digs for the benefit of others,

or a charity that he gives out of his property during his life while he is sound of health. He will continue to receive reward for all these." (Abu Hurairah)

I guess we all have to prepare well as, death is inevitable.

'Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him is our return.'

  1. Masha-Allah, this post is a good reminder to us all, truly death is inevitable and all we can do is pray that we die in the state of Imaan, Inshaa-Allah!

  2. Thank you, Iremi, for this post. Nobody could defy death. Sooner or later, it will come to us. This earth is just a temporary place for us to stay.

  4. MashaAllah very interesting read... Reminder for us Death is a harsh and fearful reality faced by everyone who lives. No one has The power to avoid it, nor does anyone around the dying person have the ability to prevent it.
It is something which happens every moment and is encountered by the old and the young, the rich and the poor, the strong and the weak, they are all the same because there is no plan or means if escaping it, no power, no means if intercession, no way to prevent it, nor to delay it, which shows that indeed it comes from one having tremendous power so that the human is helpless in this regard and can only submit to it.
Believing in death is part of belief in the unseen and is an essential part of faith.
May Allah grant us all death in the state of Imaan (Aameen).
