A Wise Answer

A king once had a dream that all his teeth had fallen out. When he called for an interpreter, the interpreter told him that all his family members will die before him.

This made the king very angry and he had the interpreter imprisoned. He then called for another interpreter, who told him,

"From all your family members, you will have the longest life."
Although both interpretations were really the same, the king was happy with the second interpreter and gave him a large reward.

The Shari'ah had also taught people to choose their words carefully and to be considerate when talking to others so that no one is hurt by one's words.

When the truth is spoken in the right manner with the right intention, it will have the right effect.

On the other hand, if the truth is spoken in the wrong manner with the wrong intention, it will have the wrong effect and be a cause of harm, just as it happened in the story.

  6. Assalamu Alaikum sis/bro (not yet sure who ;))

I'm sorry I've tried refreshing my memory several several times, but couldn't figure out what email you were talking about. I did really think of emailing you in answer to a question you've posted on my blog, but I don't remember having told you about that. I'm sorry, but is it something else you meant?

    Allah's blessings be with you..

  15. Well said and totally agree. And sometimes the worst enemy is ourselves: the ways we speak to people, words that slipped out without much thinking... I am the same. I want to learn Islam the right way. There's so much to study, even as a Muslim-born. May Allah bless us, and pave the pathways for the right things. Amin. Great blog and please, share more with us.
